Ordinary Trousers – Madness / The Ordinary Boys

Short and sweet at two and a half minutes.

Contains “Baggy Trousers” by Madness and “Boys Will Be Boys” by The Ordinary Boys, plus a few other percussion bits.

Just Can’t Check It Out Enough – Depeche Mode / Beastie Boys

Brooklyn meets Basingstoke in an 80′s Electro Stylee!

Irn Mnky Says:

“Does exactly what is says on the tin!”

She Sells Grapevines (Dance Remix) – The Cult / Marvin Gaye

Dance floor mix of the original She Sells Grapevines.

A track that has done quite well for us (download original below).

Remix treatment by request from our more ‘dance’ DJ’s associates! For the trainspotters – it’s 141 BPM.

Follow The Clash – Eric B. & Rakim / The Clash

The original punk heroes meet the legendary hip hop duo in an old school punk rock scratchathon.

The Clash’s “White Riot” mellows out into “Bankrobber” then back again.

Eric B. & Rakim’s “Follow The Leader” vocal flows over the top.

Additional live scratching thrown in for good measure.

My Band Resurrected – D12 / The Stone Roses

The Stone Roses “I Am The Resurrection” cut up with D12′s “My Band” to give the track a funky guitar vibe.

Cut the drum parts from the intro and added the bassline from the instrumental – as used by MC Tunes / 808 State all those years ago!

Added the guitar riff and layered other parts of the instrumental to build the track.

The D12 chorus key fitted perfectly with the Roses track.

How Soon is MVP? – The Smiths / Big L

This well known Smiths track has been covered by so many bands that it deserves it’s own boot.

Originally made a few years ago on a Yamaha Sampler and a turntable, now rebuilt from scratch on a PC.

The Smiths “How Soon Is Now?” indie classic meets Big L’s “MVP” vocal.

Added a break from the Incredible Bongo Band’s “Apache” to beef it up and some old school electro percussion.

The small tribute to Big L at the start comes courtesy of Gangstarr from the Full Clip LP

She Sells Grapevines – The Cult / Marvin Gaye

The Cult’s “She Sells Sanctuary” which I reckon is one of the greatest rock tracks of all time with Marvin’s “Heard It Through The Grapevine” vocal.

Can’t remember how – but I reaslied these two tracks had similar keys and melodies in places.

Put them together and it worked straight away, only had to slightly re-tune Marvin’s vocal.

This track has done pretty well. It has been aired on various US stations courtesy of the Sixx Mixx and also on XFM.

Blue-Hah! (Got you all in check) – The Bluetones / Busta Rhymes

Made purely for fun as an enty to the GYBO “Bluetones Challege”.

Busta Rhymes “WooHah!” over five (!) Bluetones records – and all in key!

For the trainspotters out there, the tracks are:-

Are You Blue or Are You Blind?

Slight Return

Autophilia

Cut Some Rug

The Enemy Overture (1 minute of madness) – Public Enemy / Clockwork Orange OST

Does what it says on the tin – 1 minute of classical hip hop and classical music.

Made to open up DJ set’s and mixes and does it’s job very well. Don’t ask where the idea came from!

Contains the first verse from Public Enemy’s “Rebel Without a Pause”.

The music is the “William Tell Overture – Abridged” from the Clockwork Orange O.S.T. by Walter (now Wendy) Carlos, originally composed by Gioacchino Rossini.

The break is from “Run’s House” by RUN DMC.

Shake Lyla’s Rump – Oasis / The Beastie Boys

Two favourite tracks “Lyla” by Oasis and “Shake Your Rump” by the Beastie Boys.

The original mix was sat around for a while because it was missing something.

Added a break from the Wildstyle LP and the break from “Rapper’s Delight” and all the elements came together.

Was determined to complete this because I liked the pounding rhythm of the “Lyla” track.

Guest spot from Chuck D – linking the repeat chorus at the end.

Just’s a Rascal (With No Ice) – The Darkness / Dizzy Rascal

Liked the riff from “Love On The Rocks (With No Ice)” because it has that AC/DC “Back In Black” groove to it.

Added Dizzie’s vocal and layed some of the guitars for the chorus. No other ingredients used.

Simple stuff but it rocks. The title is funny if nothing else.
